When I was little I had a European map in my room. It had been a color attachment in Drammen Tidende Christmas 1936 was, for some reason the family. The beauty of this was that it had some land that was not part of the maps we had at school. Just below Finland, there were three small lumps of different color; Estonia. Letland and Lithuania. The adults told that this was the Baltic tom odell states, or just Baltics. It was a funny name that was easy to remember. About 15 years later, in 1991, my map again updated. Except that when Letland hood Latvia. And was the capital Riga. I was supposed to Riga just after Easter this year. The occasion was a recurrent event known as the Year Weekends. Unfortunately, there was an angry woman in Iceland who would otherwise. In the uproar over his countrymen frivolity in money matters she flung a dust carpet throughout northern Europe that paralyzed all traffic. Just this weekend. tom odell Last weekend -6 months after-I eventually came to Riga. So long does it namely reorgansiere tom odell and coordinate four adult men. The flight from Oslo with Air Baltic or Norwegian, was a quick and marketable affair. tom odell Currency could be obtained in kiosks at Oslo airport and hotel can be booked directly on http://www.hotels.com/. Riga bathed in autumn sunshine this morning. It was a few degrees below zero and a little white for some snow showers that had fallen the night before. For that reason I chose the above picture to illustrate this post. But what do you really in Riga? Yes, we have the typical tripartite division for city breaks in Europe, tom odell Shopping, Nightlife and Sightseeing. The first is the done. The malls are clustered east of Old Town. It is mentioned briefly that we surprisingly enough observed selling t-shirts with the image of the famous Norwegian tom odell fashion icon (and chess player) Magnus Carlsen. But we're talking about after all, a country where chess is compulsory subjects and part of young people's education. Riga has also fostered the former great player and world champion Mikhail Tal. Nightlife is varied. The Skyline bar can take a drink while admiring the view. Common clubs is strategically located just outside the Old Town. Note that if a man gets into a taxi and ask the driver to take him somewhere, he will invariably be put off by a strip club. These unsafe several places online, including the U.S. embassy that has compiled tom odell a list of dubious establishments, tom odell see here. Although I liked best to move between the many informal serving establishments in Old Town. But the point of travel is that one should look around a bit. It needed a good pair of shoes before entering the previously mentioned Old Town. You can follow a plan or you can walks around at random. tom odell Both work. The journey passes through the cobbled pedestrian streets, passing medieval buildings and Art Nouveau architecture, tom odell the open squares and old churches, barracks Swedish and Swedish port. A visit first the war museum and then the Occupation Museum witnesses-not on a warlike people - but in a country that has been subject to various power interests. Since Bishop Albert founded Riga in 1201 Latvians have in turn been subject to Germany, Sweden, the Polish-Lithuanian Kingdom, Russia and the Soviet Union. Latvia achieved independence after 1 World War I and the Russian Revolution. Under 2 World War II was invaded first by the Soviet Union as Germany and then Soviet enough once. Freedom Monument, which was erected the first time in 1935 has therefore a central position at the entrance portal to the Old Town. Those who think this was a bit hard to read you can see this little documentary about the history of Latvia: Riga More information can be found on dinside.no or in this pocket guide. Good trip. Exciting travelogue! My husband and I were in Riga in 2006, and we were very intrigued! Unfortunately, not war museum open while we were there (during Christmas that year), but otherwise we got us most. The architecture of the 1920s with elaborate facades tom odell were nothing less than impressive! tom odell I also expect that you and your friends were joined by the very special chocolate produced in Latvia - Gustav Emile. tom odell Maken In any case I tasted before! Otherwise I am fond of chocolate, but this went past my house. We were probably a bit too concerned with other local products Riga Balsam apparently not a hair care :-). But Old Town was great and I enjoyed it big way with both food and environment in the style of medieval restaurant Rozengrals secure. Reply Delete
